Springwood.
This is where it all began.
Krueger had killed here, on numerous occasions.
Blair smiled as she stepped out of her crappy black 1988 Ford Mustang, remembering the news reports and headlines. Students passing by in the parking lot eyed her unusual outfit, with looks of confusion and humour. Blair ignored them. She dressed this way out of love, and no amount of odd looks at her red and green striped Christmas sweater and brown skirt would diminish her passion.
“Nice sweater” a blonde girl with frizzy hair said, a smug grin plastered on lips.
Freddy would make her regret that. Blair knew it.
It was getting Freddy into that girl’s mind that would be the hard part. Blair kept her lips sealed and ignored the girl, remembering how this town had made sure none of the teenagers knew who Freddy Krueger even was, especially after the last incident. He had come back. Back here, in Springwood! But then some bitch named Laurie, and her boy toy Will... they had him killed yet again. “But,” thought Blair, her smile returning, “They shouldn’t be a problem this time.”
It seemed like not even a week ago that she had tracked them down and ‘Got rid of’ them, leaving absolutely no traces. The police were baffled as to why a newlywed couple had suddenly disappeared from their hotel room, leaving everything, along with a note that said ‘Leaving Springwood’. A state-wide search had been taking place for at least a few days now, and nobody had found even a scrap of a clue.
Finally, Blair found her class. History.
She walked inside and took a seat in the back corner. It was the beginning of the year, so nobody would be claiming it to be theirs. She sat quietly, watching every student walk in and choose a seat, her expression never shifting from a bored stare.
A number of the students looked at her. Some chuckled, others merely grinned.
She didn’t care.
Finally, the teacher walked in, just as the bell rang. Blair smiled once more as she saw the tiny and brittle old woman walk in, carrying a small stack of books, her thick glasses askew. She would be easy to get a rise out of.
“Alright class” the teacher said, placing the books on her desk. “We’re going to start with roll call and I’ll mark your seats.”
History went on as normal as any class would. Blair had not muttered a single word, raising her hand when the teacher called out her name for attendance. It was not until the teacher asked the class to tell her about something Historic that occurred right here in Springwood, that Blair raised her hand to speak. The teacher called on her, obviously not expecting what Blair did answer with.
“Freddy Krueger lived here. He killed a bunch of young kids, and then when the parents all gathered and killed him, he came back and started murdering teenagers in their dreams, for revenge.”
The class was so silent, a pin could have been heard, had one dropped.
“W-where did you hear such a thing?!” The teacher squeaked, visibly shaking.
The teacher’s reaction now had students not looking on the verge of laughter, but a few of them somewhat frightened.
“I’ve read about it. The town covered him up, so he can’t kill anymore. None of these students know who Freddy Krueger is, so they can’t dream about him-“
“Enough!” the teacher exclaimed, cutting Blair off. “Go to the Principal’s office...f-for talking about such outlandish...and h-horrifying things!”
Blair smirked. The teacher’s reaction was exactly what she needed.
She stood up and grabbed her bag, then left the room, only looking back to see the students, staring at her, still afraid.

Blair ignored her orders to go to the Principal’s office and used her time to go to the library. She had made a flyer earlier, on lined paper. It was simply a newspaper cutting, recalling the numerous murders that had happened here in Springwood, all accounts of deaths during sleep. It had been very challenging to find a copy of it that had not been blacked out.
Blair set it face down in the copying machine and pushed the buttons, telling the machine to make her fifty copies. The machine hummed softly as it scanned and printed, spurting out sheet after sheet. Blair picked up each one, then as the last page printed, she grabbed it and turned, walking back into the halls.
It took at least an hour to hang them all around the school, as she ignored the PA system, which had repeated “Blair Smith, please report to the Principals office” at least six times now. She laughed each time. ‘Ha, Smith’ she thought, grinning ‘Of course they’d believe an obviously fake last name like that’
She stuck up one last flyer as the bell rang and students began piling into the hallways. The majority of them stopped to read over the flyers, and several looked either confused or scared. Blair smirked and stepped out of a nearby door that led outside. She’d done it. She’d gotten into the school and spread the name of Krueger. Now all she had to do was hope that it was enough to gain Freddy access into their dreams...
She stepped back into her car and started the engine. Shed need to find a place to stay, somewhere with a television, so she could keep up with the news.
She found a small and cheap motel, just outside of Springwood. She made sure that they got the local news, before checking in and getting a key for her room. She was placed in room 8 and made her way down the concrete patio to it. The metal number was hanging upside down and hanging from a single nail. She unlocked the door and stepped in, locked the door behind her and sat on the bed. She grabbed the remote and turned to the right channel.
Nothing. Just a stupid report about how some Christian Group was holding a bake sale earlier today. She lied back in her rental bed and continued to watch boring report after boring report, not noticing when she was drifting off a few hours later...

She was in her favourite dream...  the boiler room. She would wander around aimlessly here, hoping for a glimpse...but he never came. She would call for him, make up lies to lure him...but it was always an empty and cold boiler room. It was still her favourite dream though, because she knew he could pop up at any moment.
She was wandering again, looking around each and every corner, until she heard a squeak. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked around, feeling suddenly warm.
Another squeak. Much louder this time.
“Freddy?” she whispered, her heart racing in excitement.
The boiler room become very hot as soon as she had said the name.
“...Freddy Krueger?” she called, louder this time.
A flame whipped up from the ground right in front of her and diminished just as quickly. Freddy stood in its place now, sneering, slouching, his gloved hand at his hip and facing upwards, ready to plunge into her gut.
“Who are you?” he asked in a tone of anger and curiosity.
Blair smiled. She was not afraid of this man. Even if he did kill her, it was the way she’d wished of dying for years.
“I’m Blair...I’ve been working to bring you back” she explained.
Freddy’s eyes narrowed as he straightened up.
“Why?”
“I think you...your work...it’s all so amazing. I want to help you.” Blair said in total awe.
Freddy smiled now.  It wasn’t exactly a happy smile, but more of a sinister and threatening one.
“Is that so?” he asked. “Do I have a fan?”
Blair nodded and took a step closer to him.
“You do.”
“You must be one loony bitch” Freddy replied, still smiling.
“I am” Blair replied simply.
Freddy now looked her up and down.
“Nice outfit. How old are you?” He was enjoying this, Blair could tell.
“I’ll be 17 in a month.”
“Nice and young,” he drawled
Blair grinned again.
“So how did you do it? How did you get the children to fear me again?”
“ I spread your name around Springwood High....I also killed that Laurie girl, and her boyfriend, Will...if you remember them.”
Freddy sneered “As if I could forget them. That slut ruined everything.”
“Yeah, well...they won’t be a problem this time” Blair smiled, hoping to cheer him up.
He grinned again and put an arm around her shoulders. She beamed.
“So you’re willing to help me?”
“I’ve killed for you already, haven’t I? I’ll do anything...”
“I want you to go to Crystal Lake. Camp. Drink. Smoke some pot, whatever...make sure a giant retard in a hockey mask finds you.”
Blair nodded enthusiastically.
Freddy raised a brow. Not an eyebrow, mind you, since those had been singed off ages ago, but a brow nonetheless.
“Don’t you want to know why?”
Blair shook her head.
Freddy smirked again.
“When he finds you, I want you to run away, and then fall asleep. Then you can pull me out of the dream, and I can kill that cock sucker once and for all.”
Blair nodded again, still beaming.
“Can you handle stopping and sleeping while that idiot chases you?”
“I’ll do anything you wish me to” Blair said confidently.
Freddy paused for a moment, starting to find this broad unbelievable.
“Even sex?”
“I’d love to!” she exclaimed happily.
Freddy smirked. “Well. If all goes as planned and we kill Jason...then we’ll see...” he drawled again, tracing a finger of his non-gloved hand down her jaw line.
Blair did everything in her power not to kiss him, fearing it would upset him. She merely nodded once more.
Freddy then disappeared into thin air, leaving only his disturbing laugh behind, echoing off the walls of the boiler room.

Blair awoke suddenly, her eyes snapping open. She looked around the room which was illuminated by the television, which was now playing a commercial for something called Shamwow. Right after that commercial, it played one for something called OxyClean, in which a big burly man yelled at the camera. She sat up, suddenly remembering her dream excitedly.
Freddy!
She’d actually met, talked to, and became a team with Freddy Krueger!
She squealed happily, reminding herself of a teenage girl at a boy band concert.
Crystal Lake. She had to get there as soon as possible. She flicked the television off and ran out the door and to the small office. She gave the man her key and paid him in cash, then ran back to her car. She had maps in there from her trip to Springwood. She snatched the nearest one and opened it, searching for Crystal Lake. It wasn’t far.
She found her keys in her skirt pocket and started the engine, pulling out of the parking lot and making her way down the road, ignoring the speed limit.

Fifty minutes later, she saw a sign that read ‘Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake!” the words Crystal Lake were marked out with red spray paint, and the word ‘Blood’ had been crudely written above their place.
“Beautiful” Blair murmured.
She found the dirt driveway into the camp and pulled in slowly, turning her headlights off. She wondered where she would sleep, not having a sleeping bag, or any camping supplies, but decided the ground would be good enough. This was for Freddy after all.
She drove further down the dirt road, wondering where to park, when she saw them. Two decrepit cabins, grubby and falling apart. She parked in the clearing in front of them and turned the car off. Not bothering to take the keys with her, she grabbed a flashlight from the backseat and made her way into one of the cabins.
It was foul, covered in a thick layer of dust, and smelled stale. She directed her beam of light around the small room, finding a bed, some candles, and some matches that had been strewn on the wooden floor. She bent down and picked a few up, then lit one and set a flame to each candle wick. The room glowed now, and she could see even more. A table lay on its side. There was blood smeared on one wall and marks on the floor where the wood had been burned. There was a long and wide gaping hole in the side of the cabin, as if windows had once been there, and somebody had broken them all and ripped out all the wood in between.
Blair was glad it was a warm night and made her way to the bed. She noticed dried mahogany blood, splattered on the sheets and tore them off, dropping them to the floor.
Freddy had told her to drink, or do drugs. Two things she didn’t have.  She started pacing back and forth, figuring out a way to get this ‘Jason’ to find her.
A nice breeze hit her through the cavernous hole in the wall. She looked over and noticed a body of water in the distance, shimmering beneath the moonlight.
Perhaps splashing around in the water nude would attract him. He was a guy, after all.
Blair went over to the door and stepped out, glad to breathe in fresh air. She walked down to the lake and was delighted to see that the dock was still afloat, but this too had burn marks all over the wood surface. She wondered what happened here. All she knew was this is where Laurie and Will had killed Freddy, she had no idea about the details.
She played several different scenarios in her mind as she stripped, all of them ending with Freddy as the winner. None of these could be true. Finally she pulled off her plain black cotton panties and ran onto the dock, diving into the water as she reached the end. Water engulfed her, chilling her bare skin. She swam to the surface and poked her head out, taking in a large breath as the air hit her face. She opened her eyes and blinked, then peered into the darkness. She could have sworn she just saw movement in a small group of trees. Hoping it was him; she swam back to the dock and lifted herself from the water. She quickly pulled on her shirt and skirt then stepped over near the trees.
“Hello?” She called.
Silence.
But also... movement. She definitely saw movement.
She turned and started to walk away casually.
Footsteps.
She glanced behind her and saw him. He was a giant, hulking figure, in tattered clothes. He used a battered goalie mask in order to hide his face. She also noted the large machete he held in his hand.
‘That’s my cue’ she thought as she began to run.
She raced back to her candle lit cabin and dived into the bed. She wasn’t afraid, and it was perfectly easy to drift off, especially after all that running. She needed to get Freddy, before this lunatic had the pleasure of killing her.

Moments later, she was back in the hot boiler room.
“Freddy!”  She cried, “He’s on his way!”
Freddy appeared beside her.
“You’re a babe.” He grabbed her arm. “Now wake the fuck up before you’re dead.”
She nodded and grabbed the nearest steaming pipe with her fully open palm, the searing pain waking her immediately.

She was back in the cabin now, with Freddy lying beside her. He quickly stood up and looked around, his glove ready to strike.
“Where is that shithead” he growled.
Blair sat up on the bed. “I ran back from the lake, he should be here any moment now” she said.
Seconds after she spoke, there were soft thuds outside of the cabin. Heavy footsteps.
Freddy Grinned.
“He’s here.”
